Honoring & celebrating #indigenousday today #allmyrelations through music, art, books, friends & family. Remembering those who were extinguished under genocidal colonialism by wearing black arm band on left arm next to heart. (I also got a little nerdy excited for the new upcoming DUNE movie with my Japanese saw) My late and great stepfather taught me this practice almost 2 decades ago before the now federally and finally recognized day. I had the distinct honor having him share his Lakota history, beliefs, fatherhood and wisdom upon his “Wasi'chu” in an enduring way that has forever and continually guides my moral compass. “Walks With Bear” is pictured in a portrait painting of him in these photos I’ve shared. It was amazing to listen to my favorite FM listener supported radio station, Seattle’s @kexp ‘s all day curation honoring indigenous music from around the world while I was building and design custom platform beds for my girls @liz_pdx & #lulutoohottohandle (still #wip ). …….. @thehallucination band has always been a musical explosion of wonder and having seen them 3 times live, I can’t wait for the show in January, they are on tour now with their blasting new album…. I’d like to shout my friend, collaborator and PNC of over 2 decades @toma_villa_haup who’s artwork, murals and sculptures you should take a moment to enjoy and follow/support his career. He’s a rarity having the creative ability to do it all…… One of my favorite books of all time is “Tunkashila”. I’ve had to buy this book over 5 times because I keep gifting to friends. Many paintings of mine have been inspired by this collection of chronological stories/myth from all the nations….. Lastly, gotta shout Louie at @eighth_generation , the artistic program and high quality products that come out of this NW based company is inspiring to see and all the success that has shined on this group. Please check them out, the blankets are unparalleled having owned one now for several years.

This beautiful 1/2 Rot/amstaff rescue from San Antonio came into our lives 5 years ago and shifted so many lives. I’m so proud and thankful for this amazing adventure pup who has socialized friends puppies, embraced Oregon outdoors, chill shop dog, sweeter than candy, professional snuggler, incredibly intuitive, clumsy, and so much more. Love you Baby Girl!

Picked up the deposit in the beginning of an epic snow storm and finished Monday, just after another 3digit sun scorcher…(with many brutal heatwave delays, heat exhaustion, southern facing, on a black top with a predominantly black background)…

Over the weekend I installed the largest canvas painting I’ve created in my career. With the help of 3 other friends, this beast is now permanently and proudly displayed above the @fortunepdx bar in the historic Sentinel luxury hotel in downtown Portland, OR. The install took two days, the first being an absolute fail needing different and more ladders and 2 extra people. Most complicated and hair raising installation ever. This piece is radical departure from my usual work and was heavily inspired by the incredible remodel of the bar that features David Hockney wallpaper around this nearly 3000 sq ft bar with a 30’ high ceiling and stained glass dome above the bar. Just absolutely stunning environmental design.

It occurred to me I hadn’t posted final photos of this project that was completed November, election day. There is a video feature posted earlier in my feed… In partnership with local street art organization PSAA ( @portlandstreetartalliance )and for the real estate development firm Holland Group ( @holland_partner_group ), we created a Columbia River gorge mural that also highlights the protected wetlands around Vancouver featuring an elusive and massive Egret. This mural is located off the street, tucked away in a plaza between two apartment buildings. Special thanks for my assistants @cjmedema @d_j_rice & @plasticbirdie

Commissioned sculpture for Kaiser Permanente at undisclosed location. This was one of the most challenging wood sculptures in my career. A radical departure from my usual series, I’m so thrilled, along with the client how it turned out. Engineering this to completion, while designing a system to disassemble for transport and reinstall on site was a hurdle. Just wrapped this experimental mural for the awesome local adventure store @evoportland. They expanded into the old REVELRY restaurant. Sadly, this favorite establishment of mine, was another victim of the pandemic. I had created a mural for them in 2016 with a 90’s hip hop theme. EVO asked that I subtly continue the mural but with a snow/ski theme. The expansion will be a rental, repair and demo shop. My goal was to create the wonderment of snow, that first time you remember it as a child and how it never leaves us into adulthood. As adults we still play, snowboarding, sledding, skiing and more. Lastly, this was kinda the first time jumping into portraiture using entirely aerosol. Couple months back @plasticbirdie and I took off on a road trip to Denver and collaborate on this little jammer that our homies @lindzandlamb put together. This epic trip was met with insane wind storms, moose on the loose, poop pants, driving on the shoulder over the rockies, more wind, party forest rangers, rooftop sunsets, and finally an "exploded" engine in the middle no where...... one of the very few highlights of the year. 3300 miles, 7 states.
