Many of my commissions involve stories about the patrons family, or a particular family member.  Silvia Stephenson wanted to honor her grandmother who dearly loved hummingbirds.  Through the commission process I  always ask about any significant dates, numbers, names or phrases I can use as type treatments to personalize the piece.
